ok ...
ok i went to the link and its telling me to do something with something i dont have. i goto my layer tab and there is no layer style option to choose from.
Click on your gradient tool.
Pick on the gradient bar when the option menu opens (the bar that shows the color).
This should open the gradient window.
Look for a menu or little triangle button.
Follow the remaining steps in the link.
ok i figured out what the gradient tool is. im sorry im not good with this stuff, i just got ps a week ago. ok now how do i get the gradients into PS from my computer. the one link you sent said to go to the layer button at the top and then click on layer styles but there is no layer style to click on.

Everyone had to start somewhere, so don't feel bad if it takes a while to learn the tools.
From the Edit menu, navigate to the Preset Manager and select Gradients. Click Load and navigate to the file. That's it.
You can also load any applicable presets from the Styles menu.

You should have this when you click the arrow next to the bar:
Clicking the bar itself should open this menu:
To adjust colors, click the box on the right I circled in red to make the left box available to use the Color Picker menu.
The same can be done for opacity with the boxes above the Gradient bar.

You must be using Elements or a very old version of Photoshop then. Try this:
Quote:
How to Install Custom Gradients
All Versions: Place the *.grd files into:
Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements X\Presets\Gradients where X is the version number for your version of Photoshop Elements.
Even if it's not Elements, the folder should be in the same location for other versions of Photoshop.
*Including v5, I just saw that you said that earlier
