Thumbs up Desperately Seeking Help

Hi everyone,

I have tried and tried to achieve a certain pattern effect in photoshop but to no avail. After leaving it for some time lying to rot I decided to look for help instead of trying again for hours with a crappy result. Could you please take a look the the example below. I am trying to achieve something like this example. A scroll type background with an embedded or watermarked map. The egdes of the paper are not of importance or the actual contents of the example but simply the paper background effect.

Example:

Any help as to where I may find some tutorials to achieve this result would be greatly appreciated.

lotsa greetz

the map looks like a regular map that has some bevel/emboss effects applied to it. There also appears to be a second map on top thats set to like multiply at a low opacity.
The edges of the paper seem to have been cut up with the eraser, and then burned slightly with the burn tool.
Then it looks like they added another layer with orange/possible grudge texture set to overlay to give it an old stained look.

It all looks pretty simple actually.

I just changed the example in order to give a better idea of what I am looking for. The background used for the scroll is what I was looking for and I think i may have found it by the looks of things but any other tutorial links are most welcome.

thanks for the replies!
