I agree the images are very small .. I will mess with the brushes and see what i can come up with too but thanks for the idea

i know it's not a very good tut, but i was trying to do something I wasn't too great at, so from a beginners stab at it, i think it's a good attempt... once again I apologize for the image sizes, but i dont really want to re-size or worry about this tut anymore.
Here is a starfield I just threw together. Its pretty easy to do. Just create a layer, fill with black, go to noise/add noise/Gaussian, set layer to screen and continue to do the same on separate layers. lower brightness and up the contrast on each layer to create depth. Add some small lens flares and a blue hue, and you have a realistic looking star field with depth.
