Okay, I've done another one of these but the result is less than stellar. I have some questions.
The displacement map is gray scale. How does this translate when mapping. Are the whites lifted and blacks lowered around 50% gray? Or is the map lifted and lowered by some other method?
What are the Horizontal scale and Vertical Scale boxes as shown in the capture? I assume that they move the map so that it's off-center or spread the map around it's center, but I'm not sure (and am too lazy to perform experiments).
This image is from PS 6.01.
Please save me some time by telling me more. I spent a lotta time finding more tuts and info on displacement but I can't find any complete information.
Here's the result I got. It's not very good. The displacement map is okay, but I shoulda cut the girl out of the background and layered it, so that I could change the color of the background. I coulda picked a better subject too, but I was only experimenting. The Horizontal Scale and Vertical Scale were set to zero on this.
One thing I learned -- this is a composite of two renditions. To use the same mask on two images, you can copy the mask from the first (select all on the mask, then copy), then use Paste Into for the second image's mask. Using the normal Paste function results in creating a new layer.
Please help. Save me some time, eh? And give me an understanding of what all the params are in the displacement dialog box.
Thankz.
