Okie dokie,
In this tutorial I will be showing everybody a pretty basic technique to create a very simple looking piece of abstract art, somebody asked that I make a tut about this picture I created a while back
and I guess this is it
Please take it easy as this is my first attempt at a tutorial and Im not sure how detailed I am supposed to get O.o
To begin start out with a canvas about the size of your monitor (if you want it for a wallpaper) or larger for maximum resolution (note: the larger the canvas the more compact the swirls will be) I am using 1280x800
fill it with black and go to
Filter>Pixelate>Mezzotint and use these settings
hit Ok and then Ctrl+F to apply the filter once more
You will have something like this:
Next go to:
Filter>Blur>Radial Blur and use these settings
Once again hit Ctrl+F to apply it again
You should now have something like this
Next Duplicate the layer and on the top layer go to:
Filter>Distort>Twirl
I set the twirl to 200 but you can adjust it to whatever you want
Next click on the bottom layer and go to:
Filter>Distort>Twirl
Set it too negative whatever you set the top layer to (example I set my top layer to 200 so I set the bottom layer to -200) then set the top layer to (blending Mode) Lighten
you should have something like this
and your main picture should look like so
All that is needed now is adjusting the HUE/SAT and colorizing the picture to add whatever colors you decide
I liked blue
And your finished!
But dont stop there, make the technique yours and experiment around, I added a lighting effect some contrast and got this
