Converting images to cartoon style

yeah so i didnt creat this tutorial but the link expired and since i know that serveral people would like to know this if they dont already. so yeah. its jus real short.


ok so first find your base image for this i chose this one since i was in the middle of sig.




now go to blur>guassian blur and set the blur radius to around 2.5-3.




after that to go to Edit>fade guassian blur



when in fade set the blend mode to darken and lower the opacity if it helps clear the image up.




and this should be close to the end turnout



so have fun with this and give it a go guys =)

some ppl wanna know how to make cartoons.. if u ask me it works pretty well... but u can go ahead and delete if You hate it X.X

I dont "hate" it, I just dont get it.


how does blurring it or darkening it make it into a cartoon?

Maybe if I saw another example or something I'd understand.

it works better for some things than others, the tutorial pic i used wasnt reallya great example. but if u experiment with other pictures it seems to work, and i dunno i why but it works best on black people.... no idea why

I don't know what you guys are doing wrong, but I got this technique to really work well. I have done some amazing things so far, and I for one think that it's definitely worth keeping in your PS skillzbox, because you never know when you might need it. Just for an example, I'll show you one I did of el Presidente.
