Colorize a photo

In this tutorial I'm gonna show you how to colorize a b/w image or a color image in multiple color. I know some of you guys know how to do this but I'm sure there will be folks interested in it

Lets open the pic a flower for this example :

Duplicate the background layer and name it b/w :

Now duplicate again the b/w photo and give the layer the name that the color on this layer will be.

Hold alt and from the palette down right of the page select that half black - half white cirlce and select Hue/Saturation.You could also just press Ctrl+ U (hue/saturation) but we chose the first method so we can later adjust the settings if we didnt like the color we have.

After selecting Hue/Saturation thick Use previous layer to..... and hit OK.

After that thick Colorize and move the sliders in to get the color you like.

On this layer it should be automatic created a layer mask. Click on it and hit Ctr+I to invert the selection.

Now take a soft brush and be sure that your foreground color is White and start painting on the areas you want to see that color.

Again now duplicate the b/w layer and repeat the step above but this time with another color

And again with another color

Also if you would like to remain something form the original image you just add a Layer Mask on the b/w layer and start painting over with black

Here is something I made.......but you can do this in many, many ways.

For example you can add patterns and many other things

Hope you like it
