Sin City Style Tutorial - not by a member here though

Anyone try this? I tried with a different photo and couldn't get it quite right. Mainly the last part with the blackening of the whole scene. Otherwise it is a pretty nifty trick.

adjustin the levels is really what's killing me on this. i think it's more from lack of experience than anything else.
the deagle photo adjusted fine, but it may be the lighting quality of the photo i took that made the face shot not end up well.
