Creating cool designs for sigs, backgrounds, etc in photoshop

I realize this stuff is old news, but I just got photoshop yesterday and the simplicity of this tutorial has got me into learning other things.

wow never noticed before but my ps cs3 is missing a bunch of tools like the paint bucket how do i fix that. am i doing something wrong

A lot of "common" tools are now grouped together. Click and hold down the gradient tool icon and you'll see the Paint Bucket tool show up in an expanded menu. All of the tool icons with a little triangle in the lower right are part of the "common" tool groupings.
