TUTORIAL- How to make a clown using photoshop

Ok, this took a while to make. Sorry if I skipped any steps or any pictures are missing. I tried to make it as detailed as possible. If you find this tutorial useful, please rep me.
*Also, seems I can only post 6 images per post, so just read it as one long post. The posts themselves are not steps.




Ok-here we go...

Open the pic you're going to chop. Find an image for a
reference. I Googled "Ronald Mcdonald" and found a random
pic. Now I know where to put the different colors.

Duplicate the first layer, so you will always have the
original in case you make a mistake. Now, using the magnetic
lasso, select the area that would be his yellow "shirt" Keep
the area selected

Go to Image, Adjustments, Hue/Saturation. Click on the
small colorize box. Now you can select the color you would
like to use. (I don't remember the exact color I used for
the original image, so I just used a plain yellow.)

It should now look like this.


Now on to his "sleeves" Use the magnetic lasso tool, and
slowly select the small rectangles you will color red. You
can make the magnetic lasso go straight by pressing "alt"
while selecting, and you can select more than one area by
using the "shift" key. Keep the area selected.

As in step three, choose a color, but this time pick a nice red color.

Repeat until you have the whole sleeve done.
Now do the other arm the same way as you did the first one.

9.Now its time to do the three little stripes on his costume.

Make the selections using either the magnetic or polygonal
selection tool. Again, go to image, adjustments, and
hue/saturation and use the same color as the arm stripes.


To make the small circle on the chest, use the
elliptical marquee tool and select a spot on his chest. Copy
and paste onto a new layer. Again, go to image, adjustments,
hue/saturation. Select the same color. It should now look
like this picture-


To draw the "M" or whatever logo you want, use a small,
hard-edged eraser, and erase inthe circle. It will appear
the color behind it (in this case, yellow)

Reminder-You should still have the original image as your background. You can always copy theoriginal image and make a new layer if you find you don't have the originl on a layer.
Using the magnetic lasso tool, select the both arms on the original picture layer

Go to Image, Adjustments, Desaturate.
Once it's grey, and still selected, go to Image,
Adjustments, Variations. Click on "lighter 6-8 times. Then
click "ok"



Using the "magic wand" tool, on the colored layer,
select the original skin. You can select all of them if you hold the "shift" key. Now either hit delete, or use an eraser. (I use an eraser. It seems to delete and leave cleaner lines.


Reminder- ^That is the most time consuming part of the tutorial.
After you're done with the last step, go ahead and flatten the image.
To make the collar, using the magnetic lasso, and select
a rectangular area like the one shown. Create a new layer
and fill this area with white. You can create a shadow under
the collar by using a small, soft brush and painting a soft,
black line. After you're done, flatten the image.

Duplicate this layer. To make his face white, we will do
the same step as the arms. Select his face with the magnetic
lasso. Desaturate it, and then go to image, adjustments,
variations. Theres no need to click on "lighten" as it
remembered your last setting. Just click "ok" when it opens.
The face should be white now.


I just used a small brush and drew the outlines on his
mouth, nose, and eyes. I then selected these areas, and
copied them. This copied the selected areas of his white
face. I then pasted it on another layer. I went to Image,
Adjustments, hue and saturation. Hit the "colorize" box and
filled the selection with these numbers.

If you have more than one layer, go ahead and flatten the
image.

For the last step, the hair needs to be colored. This is
easy. Select and copy his hair, paste it on a new layer.
Again, go to Image, Adjustments, Hue/Saturation, and use the
same color as the arms. Then erase around the hair, erasing
the head and the background behind his hair.
To make McPeppers the Clown, I followed all these steps, but
first put Bpep's head on first. Much like a regular chop. Then I did
the steps mentioned in this tutorial.
