In Medieval times when people were beheaded the reason the head was held up in the air afterwards isn't so that the people could view the severed head, it was so the head could view the people.
You see, when you are beheaded you remain conscious for around 8 seconds before the brain completely dies.
yeah, I would expect they did it for that reason without knowing the actual science behind it. Still disturbing though.
I don't know if any of you watched any of the beheading videos when that was happening so much in the news, but I did, and it's one of the things I truly regret in life.
It was more disturbing than anything I've ever seen, and you don't forget it. And it makes you so mad as well.
Without a doubt, if I was a contractor over there and got ambushed, I'd immediately fight and grab at their guns so they'd be forced to shoot me rather than surrender just because they point a gun at you.
Because at the exact moment you're ambushed, you're dead anyway.
Better to go on and be dead quickly than to live a few extra days in fear and dread and finally incredible terror at the actual time you die in front of their video cameras.
Fuck that.

easy to say that but when u have a gun pointed at u wut u just said, maybe 1% of all people would actually do that.

I'm definitely a 1%er.
I have a philosophy that if I imagine a thing happening, then I'm more prepared for that event should it become real.
I have a number of scenarios in my mind that I've prepared myself for.
For instance, no one could take my kids from me at the point of a gun, they'd have to shoot them through my back. I've imagined that just like death comes eventually, it can also come suddenly, and it would be sad to realize that time had come, but because I've considered it many times, I would recognize it more readily and already know my choice.
See otherwise, when that moment comes, you're surprised, and it's hard to think and make good decisions when you're caught off guard, unless you've already considered your decision in advance.
It's like sports - when I play (played, it's been awhile lolo) outfield, I examined the situation (runners on which bases) and determined what I need to do if the ball comes to me. This is nothing new, all athletes do it. But because I realized how much that improved my performance, I realized it worked in all of life, not just sports.
It's the same raising your children. They have to know in advance what their choice is regarding drugs, sex, etc., or else it'll catch 'em by surprise and they won't make a good decision.
I already know it works, it's worked in the past.
My wife thinks I'm insane - she says I shouldn't think of negative things. But I know that if it has occurred to me before, I won't be surprised if it actually happens.

funny me and my dad were discussing the same thing the other day
we both said the same,id rather struggle and get shot than be beheaded for a vidio.
well to me getting beheaded is far scarier than getting shot,id see struggling till they shoot you as an easier way out
Yeah but what I'm saying is they PLAN to behead you, that's the whole point of it. It's like tradition sort of. They took you there to be beheaded and that's what they're gonna do. If you struggle they'll shoot you in the legs or wherever so you don't die and then they'll hold you down and behead you.

Just pray you never get into that situation
HK

ill never be in any of those countries where there is a chance of that happening
