| Reasons not to jack off. Got this from another board. THis is not me writing it. It is some old looser:
I've done a good amount of research on this subject over the past 3 years, so I feel fit to contribute to this thread and clear up some misconceptions at the same time. I did the same on a recent thread, which wound up being closed.
1. There IS such a thing as too much masturbation/ejaculation. It is silly to think that an unlimited amount of ejaculation/masturbation -- which results in a series of biological reactions and alterations -- can result in an endless supply of pleasure without any consequences. Whether you ejaculate via masturbation or sex, you have to regulate your frequency to avoid a deficit of the hormones/prostaglandins that are necessary for healthy sexual function and other physical aspects. The older you get, the more careful you must be with regulation. An 18-year-old will be less affected by ejaculating 5 times a week than a 40-year-old.
2. Despite what's outlined in #1, the extreme opposite is also damaging. Seminal backup is no good. If you're not getting sex, but are serious about limiting your ejaculation frequency, release once every 2-3 weeks to maintain sexual function, clean out the seminal vesicles, and aid prostate health.
3. Over-ejaculation over the years DOES cause a significant drop in testosterone. Over-ejaculation DOES NOT result in increased testosterone. Those who say it does are just engaging in wishful thinking combined with rationalization to justify the (abusive) pursuit of short-term pleasure with long-term negative consequences.
With every ejaculation, testosterone is converted into DHT (dihydrotestosterone). A certain amount of DHT is necessary for sexual health and penile growth. However, consider that the makers of Propecia (finasteride) warn about sexual side effects when using the medication. And what does Propecia do? It stops hair loss by way of inhibiting DHT. Excess DHT binds itself to hair rooting cells, which kills hair follicles. Excess DHT also results in the secretion of excess sebum -- the oils produced by the sebaceous glands beneath the skin -- thus promoting acne.
I've mentioned this in other threads, but it's important that people understand that ejaculation is similar to withdrawing from a bank account. If your spending (ejaculation) exceeds your savings and income (hormonal/seminal inventory and production), you will be at a deficit despite having a regular income (production). That's why it's important to debunk the ignorant rationalization that states that very frequent ejaculation is harmless just because our body does not stop producing testosterone. Don't overdraft your seminal bank account!
As a masturbation addict for 20 years (yes, I'm an addict), I've been afflicted with a very low tesosterone level of 170 ng/dl (where 240 ng/dl is the MINIMUM healthy test level). Trust me, testosterone deficiency is no fun. It leaves you fatigued, with very poor sexual function and drive, no ambition or aggressiveness for pursuing sex, increased body fat, gynecomastia, hair loss (if there's no premature baldness in your family), premature grey hair, acne, and even vision problems (eye floaters, that is...not the myth about "going blind"). It leaves you feeling very reduced, with an overall lack of confidence. |
