You're election race just gets weirder and scarier every week.
Biden wasn't particularly engaging and I disagreed with some of his points but at least he made those points fairly clearly, and I thought he came over as intelligent and thoughtful.
Palin was very condescending and smarmy, simply parroting the talking points and buzzwords that have no doubt been drill (baby drill)ed into her over the last few days. And her 'folksy' chat style had no place in a debate like that. But what the feck was she on about when she said she wasn't going to answer the moderators questions the way she wanted her to? Was that being a 'mavrick'? It's a fecking debate not a coffee morning, you're there to answer the questions! If she wanted to speak to the American people as she claimed then she should have been out meeting and talking to them in the streets and town halls. Not hidden away from the people and the press. Maverick my arse.
The difference between them as far as I could tell was that Biden would be able to coherently and sincerely debate any of the topics for as long as was needed, Palin didn't seem like she actually understands anything deeper than the phrases she had been programmed with. And her trying to pretend she's just a regular middle-class American was an insult to those of you who are.
Even the active poll on Fox News had Biden ahead on about 56% so it's bewildering to me, and most observers outside the US I think, that some people consider that a victory for Palin.
The standards of the average American have really slipped if they think a self-confessed 'hackey mam', who knew feck all about politics and the world outside her own state until 5 weeks ago and has proven she can't formulate her own thoughts and opinions under pressure, is in any way fit to serve in such an important position as the Vice President (to a 73 year old cancer sufferer no less).
The bar will be so low by November that whoever wins will have to limbo dance into the White House.
