H2H's tend to be that way, we give ourselves weeks to work on them....And I still didn't win. I was up against Hyperborean. Damn that chick can chop!

He pelican... its always a pleasure to see nice pieces. and you have a record of consistacy and quality. Good choice on starting the thread.

question. on your avi it looks like it could have been just decent photography with a bit of touchup work. how much was actually done to it. if you dont mind me askin...

It was decent photography with touch up. Its all in the source.

The contest was, "If Pirates Ruled". I had no idea. I just went digging through my stuff looking for something that might make a good pirate and found an old pic of Kieth. When I saw it I knew it would fit one of the classic shots of Johnny as Captain Jack. Trouble was the light wasn't right. I spend most of the 2 day contest making it work. Paid off though, I got the gold for it.

source images is the key making anything work imo.

a sh1ty concept with a great source will most likely always look good, but a great concept with a sh1tty source always spells disaster.

as my audio engineer friend says "you can only polish a turd so much"
