I had a request to restore this old picture taken in 1920 by a local. Tell me what you think. Will he be happy?
I also have a restored sepia tone one if he wants it too.
I was just thinking about this as a contest. I was scanning old family photos with my brother this last week and was thinking it would make a great contest.

If you find a good one we can use, PM me and I will start a new contest.

I have a good one you can use for a contest. PM sent. Nice restoration Keb. To fill in some of the fading on the trees use your elliptical marquee tool to select a small faded area on the tree. Then add a curves adjustment layer and adjust the curves within the selected area until the fading goes away. Click ok. Then using a soft brush paint on the curves adjustment over just the faded areas of the tree. This should even out the fading so it will blend in with the non faded areas of the photo.
The colorization looks great. The guy I did it for didn't want color though. he just wanted the wrinkles & tears fixed. I also made a sepia toned one for him to look like a picture taken in 1920.
Also, I used a levels layer to darken the washed out areas in the trees and edges. The posted image is not what I gave him. The ones I gave him were quite large so he can print them.
