Can someone photoshop the background for me?

Hey guys, would it be possible to change the background in this pic to something solid....possibly a solid color, maybe with some gradient. Basically, can the person be made into a seperate layer to which a new background could be put?

The pic maybe be too shit quality for effective chopping, so just let me know if thats the case.
