The contest program already resizes (shrinks only) it to show on the page. You can click the picture to see the original size.

I'd think anything over 700 pixels would be resized. I don't have my photoshop here to see what size is being displayed.

edit: as for resolution, I always use 200+ dpi since it's a bit more clear. You'll upload a jpg, etc. instead of the psd file, so the resolution wont really matter too much.
