First off..Congrats Treehugger on your first place win, job well done. And I am being serious. No sarcasm.
Now, time to vent.... I'm kinda pissed off right now. Not jealous or having a sissy fit cause I didn't place in the top three. I personally don't believe that a GIF is a photochop. Keeping in mind that GIFs are a creative form of art. I can appreciate the work that goes into making them. Why not make a separate contest for GIFs? I'm sure there would be some great entries! Surely there are people on this site that would give Treehugger some good competition.
Lets keep Photochopz just that PHOTO CHOPZ. Not everyone can do gifs.
In closing, I would ask Joshbond to spell check my thread. It seems that is a favourite task of his! ( sarcasm ).

I'm kinda torn on the subject. Some epic gif's have been made and it would have been a shame to have missed those post cause of a rule. It is kinda hard to compete against them when they are good, 'cause moving pics are always going to draw more attention than stills.

Competition, makes you step up. Just use it as motivation.

Technically a GIF is still a picture, animated or not, and I did make it using only Photoshop, but I get your point Shreddingskin.

My Beaver pic just started as an experiment to see if I could do some parallax scrolling for a background. It turned out ok so the next logical step was obviously to put a waterskiing beaver in the foreground

And since I couldn't think of anything else worth doing with that beaver source pic I made the GIF my entry.

There was a suggestion for an animation contest a couple of months back (might have been Arsonist, I can't remember).

well we dont want them completly out i love the gifs...hes just saying maybe have a gif competition as well as a still

This has happened a few times in the past but the .gif winnar has always been epic and worthy of winning. but ya, it does give it a bit of an edge over the others. kinda like boobz or bright colors in a still pic.

Incidentally, I'm pretty sure the pic wouldn't have placed if it didn't have SharkO in it, so I'd like to share the victory with TypeO

I guess the only thing is are there enough people to do a .gif contest? We had a hard enough time just getting people to do contest period til we changed the format.

I personally like the challenge because it only makes you better.
