Facial overlay

so i see some people kind of overlay another person's face on to somoene elses.

i.e. the lighting of the original picture is different, so when you paste someone's face onto the body it takes on that lighting.

example

see how 2nd pic is a straight on face shot while the troy pic the head is turned.

what would you do?

as always, try to use two pictures that line up.
  • if that's not possible (like your example), i would use edit>transform to align the features. perspective might help with the angle (pinch the right side of the black face to align with the white). distort is very useful as well.
  • then i would try and match the faces as best as possible (levels, brightness/contrast, hue/saturation)
  • for the lighting, there's a few things you can do:
    • create new layers and paint black/white to represent shadow/light. play with the layer modes/opacity.
    • dodge/burn tool for the details.
    • try Filter>Render>Lighting Effects.

If you're trying to put a straight on shot into a 3/4 profile, it ain't going to work. You can't see the side of his face, its not there. Find a better angle.

It could still be done, it would just take a lot more work. It helps that the black guy doesn't have long hair so I would just remove all of brad pitts hair and then put the black guys face over it and do some shadowing to try and get the chin to look right.

Of course its not going to be perfect with the two different angles but I think you could still do a pretty decent chop with a little time and effort.

I wouldn't waste my time trying to match up those pics. I could spend forever, and it just wouldn't be worth the results...but that's just my opinion.

Like Peli said, finding matching angles is the key to making things chops like that work. Keep the body from the current source, and find a Brad head that fits the other source...then start the blending.

I didn't mean to sound discouraging there if I did. As was said, the 2 could be blended but the amount of work is hard to justify cuz it still just wouldn't look 'quite right'. Matching up your source material is the most important thing to do when you start a chop.

Keep up the good work!
