Problem with quick mask mode and making selections

Ok, when I use quick mask mode to make a selection I paint with black on the area that I want to select then go back to standard mode. I then inverse the selection then edit. However for some reason when I go into quick mask mode and paint the area I select is immediately editable without having to inverse. Could someone please explain why? Here's a quick screen vid of the process:http://s37.photobucket.com/albums/e8...rrent=mask.flv

I believe it's a setting within the tool. You can mask to hide or mask to show. I'll check my copy real quick.

it's a setting. try double-clicking on the quick mask button and you'll see the "color indicates" option. Then you can choose if it designates the selection or the mask.

Yes, that was it. I learned something new. I figured it was something simple, lol. Thanks!

I knew I had seen it before, but I had to search to remember where to change it. Who would think to double-click on a tool?
