Why does photoshop have brightness and contrast? Adobe should only include that in Photoshop Elements. And the blur and sharpen tools. Just taking up space in my toolbox, I never use them.
I use brightness/contrast a ton. I also use blur even more. I hardly ever use sharpen though.

The reason I think blur and sharpen tools in the toolbox are useless is because there are different types of blur and sharpen. The filters are much better at selective sharpening or blurring. If you convert an image to a smart object you can adjust the fine parameters of what type of blur or sharpen you use. Then use your black and white brushes to paint on the blur/sharpen.
Brighten and contrast can ruin your image. It's always better to use levels and curves. For a quick photochop brighten/contrast may be fine. But for commercial photoshop work curves and levels work best.
Brightness and contrast are useful tools when creating masks from channels.
What makes PS so cool is there are endless ways to go about achieving results with multiple tools. It is rarely limiting and having different tools, even old ones like these is better than wishing you had em back when a software company drops em off.

Good point. A little more than half are useless, IMO. And the dodge and burn tools, while not useless, are not recommended. These tools are destructive, there are better ways to dodge and burn.
