just how it is...
It's supposed to be a photoshop contest not a comedy contest and the real purpose for breaking the voting down the way I did was to allow feedback to the members on what is and isn't good about their entry, this would give them some idea on where to focus their attention to improve their chop skills
I disagree. The way things work now is what sets chopz apart from the rest.
There are plenty of other sites that have more serious contests.
And also, here at chopz, the best chopz usually win and a lot of them are not funny at all. I have seen a bunch of funny entries but they didn't win because of quality. I believe the best quality chops do always win, funny or not.
I say you have to fill out a questionaire for each chop. It will say something like, did the chop make you laugh and if so, was it a little chuckle or were you screaming your head off and alerting the neighbors to your sense of humor.
So which is your troll a/c man? I can't vote on my own images.
Neither can i, which is why i vote every entry but mine FTL! If i could vote on my own, i would most certainly also give myself a FTL!, just to keep things fair. But i can't... so that's just something i have to deal with
I've had my ass handed to me on a technically great chop because someone posted teh pepperz (or another meme), and I've cleaned house for something crude, quick and hilarious.
This mix is a pretty good system. Keep it. No consideration for the weak.

Please note that the following guidelines are mandatory. Don't make up your own system (i.e. awarding bonus points for humor).
Also, note that if you think an entry is off-theme, the proper action is to flag the entry, then vote on it as if it were on-theme.
RATING ENTRIES
Note that ********* is a "wow" site first, and a "humor" site second (except where the contest rules state otherwise). If an entry makes you laugh, but doesn't make you say "wow" it probably shouldn't be rated that high.
Using the available scale of 1 - 10 (one being the lowest and 10 being the highest):
1 - Any entry you rate a 1, should be flagged at the same time. If it's so bad as to deserve a 1, it shouldn't be on *********. We don't need to list examples. You'll know them when you see them.
2 - Any entry that is horrible. It probably should also be flagged.
EXAMPLES:
*Photoshop - Brutal blending and jagged layer edges.
*Photography - Subjects are out of focus.
*Illustration - Sketch remnants and blatant errors.
*Animation - Mismatched music/sound on the timeline.
*Text - horrible spelling and run-on sentences.
3 - An entry that is below average. Definitely needs that extra hour of work or thought. Easy things have been ignored.
4 - An entry that could have been good, but is missing that extra 15 minutes of work or thought behind it.
5 - It's average. Not great, not bad.
6 - It's better than average.
7 - Great idea and execution. It's much better than average.
8 - Terrific idea and execution, and something that sets it apart from just being "great".
9 - This is almost perfect. The idea and execution are fantastic and there is a special something that makes it really stand out.
10 - The execution is perfect and the idea behind it is brilliant. This is the best thing I have seen on this site in a while. "Wow!"
That is why I love chopz....
