PS question...

First off...I realize there is a photoshop section...but considering at this time there are 16 viewing this section and zero viewing that section...I'm putting my question here..

How do I color match something...I am trying to photoshop a jeep cherokee and want to color match the side mirrors to the rest of the truck

The only way I sort of know is to polygonal lasso it and then hue/saturate....but I can't get it right...was hoping someone would know a better way..

thanks for you help

Thats one thing that annoys me with photoshop. Even using the methods listed above, it still doesnt look natural. I hope in future versions of PS they make a better color change feature.

Also, if you select which color you want (like if you were to paint with a certain color) and then go to hue/saturation... Click the box at the bottom of hue/saturation that says "colorize". This will throw your selected color on top of whatever you have selected with your lasso. Play with that some.

This site might help you. I used this tutorial before and it worked ok:
http://www.tutorialmonkey.com/tm_tut3/Color_Changing

This one shows you the match color command. It's a video. I prefer the written tutorials, but this is decent:

good job posting the color matching one and suggesting its use. Playing with color levels/hue/saturation is fine, but not for bigger jobs.

I usually copy the layer in question to a completely new document and do color matching between the two, as you can't color match within layers of the same. Why, I'm not sure; if you can, I haven't found how.

Looks good crombie. I rarely play around with the Hue/Saturation, Color Balance. I usually just pick the color I want to match with the color picker, select the section I want changed and fill a new layer above the image with that color. Then I change the blending to either Hue or Color. You find your blending options at the top left of your layers palette. This may be the same thing Vegeto was talking about but wasn't sure, so I thought I'd share what I do. Hope that helps. If the color needs to be a little brighter or darker just go over it lightly with the dodge or burn tool.:character0148:
