Stacking Photos

Is there an easy way to stack or layers photos to show motion? I have a sequence of photos of a baseball pitcher in action. I want to combine the pictures into one to show the full motion of the pitch in one photo. The problem I have when using layers, is the that the pictures get too dark when I layer them together.

I've done a pitcher before but seem to have misplaced that sample. Here is a soccer pic done this way.

Import the pic sequence into a single psd file with each pic on it's own layer.
Open the animation menu and set each layer to be visible in sequence on the animation frames (one frame per layer)
Set the timing of the animation frames to fit the action. Use play to check.
Save for web & devices to created an animated .gif file.

There's a few animation tuts there. Do you want the image animated, or do you want something like a motion trail?

Stacking Photos

I'm really looking for a motion trail and not animation. The purpose is to make a poster of a pitcher or batter that shows the intire range of movement in a single photo.

Stack the photos and use a combination of layer opacity and layer masks.

The layer opacity can create semi-transparent moving arm motion and the layer masks will allow you to hide most of the other portions of the photos and use one primary layer at 100% opacity as your primary photo.

This will give you a strobe flashed effect. If you want motion trails then you can add some motion blurred layers buy duplicating the layers of the arms etc. between the layers to add this effect.

Post up the pics if you want some samples or help.
