Combining 3d with 2d - Photoshop Tutorials | Photoshop Contests

I have these two pics, one is a 3d render, and one is a 2d eagle. Is it possible to make the eagle blend in with the render but be bursting out in 3d? Can someone either make one and/or show me how to?

Please explain which ya want where and a sample might help. I could see some blend modes or something but not sure what ur after.

The bird pic is kinda small, ya got bigger cause the link is not working.

Ive searched so much on a lot of websites and i cant find a bigger albanian eagle than that one. If you know a site that might have one you can tell me or use a pic from it. I cant find a sample, but what i want is the eagle bursting out of the blue electricity i really dont know how to explain it well.

I shaded out the left part on original image myself and tried drop shadow, just doesnt look right, Il keep playing with it!
