A photorealistic iPhone-like device

Hello there talented artist!

I have a little art needing to be done which I think (hope) is relatively quite simple;

Here's what I need; An image of an iPhone-like TV-screen frame.

Sofar, me and my friend playing around in Photoshop came this far:

Can you make this kinda thing look awesome shiny and more photo-realistic, much like this iPhone looks ?



With all the high-tech'ness and much better specular light reflection etc to make it look like a real device.

P.S. If yes, here are the dimensions specifications:

576 pixels width
360 pixels height

That's the inner rectangle area.

The frame should surround this rectangle outside by 85 pixels on the vertical sides and 40 pixels on the horizontal sides, with rounded edges of 25 radius. Here's a PNG sample;

What I need is kinda different... very different actually.

The "iPhone"ness I mentioned is just for reference about the material and lighting effects seen on the back side of an iphone. See the sample images for more details.

There is nothing in the posted link dealing with lighting/shading effects on shiny black curved surfaces i'm afraid...

If you're handy with CS then you should be able to follow this Illustrator tutorial.

I used this when I was teaching myself Illustrator. There's a section within the video that shows you how to do do it.

As for photo-realism... That depends on the effort you want to put in.

Create a new layer, paint white and silver where you want light the smear them around with the smudge tool and the adjust the opacity and layer appearance.

I'm having a hard time figuring out which corners and angles etc need what shades of how much light to make it look realistically reflecting light.

Was hoping any of you artists would have a better idea.

Put a shiny plastic metal thing on a table. Now put a lamp near it and move it around. Look at how the light and shadow look from the different angles.
Take detailed pics of all the positions for further study and to keep on hand for quick reference when using PS.

I truly truly do appreciate your effort joshbond, thank you very much.

However, I don't know why this keeps happening... why does everyone think I want to make a iPhone? Please pay attention to my post; I need a TV screen frame, that's very iPhone-like in appearence. The only reason I make reference to iPhone is because of its back side (as the little picture i posted) which demonstrates black shiny high-tech material reflecting light in a photorealistic manner.

If you scroll up you will find the exact dimensions and details I need for this frame image.

For one, the iphone screen is flat all around and has this silver lining. I however need a frame that's pure black like the back of an iphone and its '3d shape' should be curved, protruding, like a button, all around, as my very first snapshot shows.

That's all it is that i need - a stupid black frame that looks shiny and 3d like the back of an iphone, thats all. Should be much less complicated than making an iphone.
