Nikon D90 with Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED IF AF-S VR for most macro.

Landscapes can range from wide angle to super telephoto.

Details on what you are shooting will help.

I like the d90 but its a bit more expensive than the XSi and the D80
is it that much better?

If you want to save money, save it on the camera and spend more on the lens. Model to model, there are smaller jumps these days. Quality lenses will yield much higher quality than cheap ones. If you don't hand-hold shooting macro, get the older non=VR 105 lens and save some money.

You ever figure out what kind of macro you want to shoot?

You will need an off-camera strobe to succeed with most macro. The on-camera will not work for most shots.

D90 FTW!!!! I have $800 saved up. Almost enough for the camera, but I am waiting until I have enough for the lenses too before I buy that way if it is 6 mos. or so before I can do it then something better/cheaper may come out.

I tried them both at costco one day and decided that the flip mirror made more noise on the canon than the Nikon. It was enough to irritate me and make me lean towards the Nikon body just so I wouldn't have to listen to the Canon click-click all the time.

I think Nikon makes a better product PERIOD! We got my daughter this camera for her birthday last week and it is a very good camera for the price. $99.00
