JK (or maybe I'm not?), I've just always been a Windows guy and I don't have the time or the patience to learn another operating system when I just figured out Vista . Plus it'd be a waste since I'm not big into video/photo editing or anything.

Beware the 64bit...lulz

You can only utilize the 16gig if you go with the 64 bit operating system and this is no big deal unless you have a number of pieces of accessory hardware. I would verify I could get updated 64 bit drivers for my printers, scanners, etc. so you will know if you have to upgrade any of those with the new computer.

WTF don't make 32bit optional ports for older hardware compatibility, I will never know.

edit: 32bit operating systems cannot use over 4gig of ram.

I was in BestBuy a couple of months ago with my brother and there was a Dell I believe with a quad core processor and it had a ton of ram and everything. It was a returned item and was marked down to like $600/ If I had had the money at the time, I would have definately made the purchase. Quad core>All my dual cores

Depends on the app you are running. Interesting benchmarks online show that if the app doesn't multithread then some of the cheaper single processors run that app faster. If you are running multiple apps at the same time, more processors do help. PS does multithread pretty well.

Ram is still the simplest cure all for speed. Processors are incremental and app dependent.

I know what you are saying, but kelli's desktop is the only single core we have, the other 4 are dual cores and even after upgrading her RAM it still runs slow as shit. If she had XP on there, it might be o.k., but not with Vista. And the only apps. she runs is MS Office. Other than that she is just on the net.
