Does this still hold true?
Tech sectionPhotoshop Does this still hold true? in the forums; Back in the old days, (win98, me), if the computer started locking up and/or rebooting on its own, it ...
If your PC starts randomly locking up or rebooting itself the first thing to try and check would be the temperature. If it's overheating it can cause all sorts of operating strife.
Although if it's brand new and you're getting trouble with it can you just return it to the store/supplier?
Actually yes. Its solved the problem on 4 different computers over the years.

This happens very randomly. The computer could be on for several days or just booted up. The fans are running.
Its been to the store several times. Last time I got it back it had a bunch of programs installed that I know they didn't need for diagnostics and when I first booted it, the anti-virus picked up a threat that ran in the start menu. Not too happy with them.
Most memory errors will blue screen. If it dies during intense processing, it could be a stack that is higher in the memory order and craps out only when it his that sector and that makes it appear random. Most computer mfgs can run some memory diagnostics.
Check the CPU Chip Fan inside the box not the ones on the back. If you can run you computer with the cover off, try to get a visual that the internal fans are cooling. You will get dumps if the fan is not working on the cpu.
For a virus check, go to Trend Micro and run the housecall scan for threats.
"It looks like you have a ram problem.
Please be aware that some faulty ram can pass Memtest86+.
Try running your system with just one stick of ram.
Make sure your ram is compatible with your mobo.
Try putting your ram into a different dimm slot.
Update your video card drivers."
Also, try changing the IRQ for the video card in the mainboard bios.
Okay, I've removed all memory and replaced it with 2gb that works.
One thing that killed the unit every time was to try watching an instant view from netflix. I can watch them on any other computer so this one should work too, right? The test is to have movies playing in the background today while I work. I'll let you know.
If this works I'll test the 2 cards that came out one at a time.
