Exclamation HELP!! Trying to redo our Non-Profit Organization's Logo

Hi All --

I had started this post a few minutes ago then I tried to preview it and in the process LOST MY ENTIRE POST!!

Anyway... here's another crack at it!!

About 3 1/2 years ago, my mother & I founded a non-profit organization, Dreams Fulfilled Through Music. Approx 10 months ago, a "professional" web & graphic design firm did a new logo for us, pro-bono. And this is where the problems started. I put "professional" in quotes for a reason... THEY MISSPELLED THE NAME OF OUR ORGANIZATION!!! They had the name of our organization as Dreams Fulfilled THOUGH Music

Even though they were doing this pro bono, there was STILL NO EXCUSE for misspelling the name of our organization on our logo!!

What's worse is that somehow we didn't notice this until just a couple of weeks ago!! It wasn't until I went to completely take the logo apart and clean it up that I discovered the error!! This logo has been on our website, our business cards, our brochures, ALL of our promotional material, AND to top it all off, we had just purchased 2 BRAND NEW VINYL BANNERS @ a cost of $100 EACH, not more than 2 WEEKS before I discovered the error!!

I am quite sure that the only reason that I did not catch this sooner is because our organization name is in script font (Zaphino) and when you look at it from a distance, you don't necesarily see the misspelling!!

Here is the original logo that they did...

I have spent the last 10 days working to fix their STUPID mistake but I have had one MAJOR DISADVANTAGE...

To make matters worse, when they gave us the graphic files that contained our logo, THEY DID NOT GIVE US THE ORIGINAL PHOTOSHOP FILE --- ONLY A SINGLE LAYER JPEG FILE!!!

NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM MORE THAN A TAD ON THE FRUSTRATED SIDE!!

Now that I have managed to fix almost all of their mistakes, I have run into one more snag that is driving me crazy!!

I traced all of the lettering using the pen tool so that I could make them into custom shapes that I could easily resize.

All but one of these words comes out perfectly!!

Here are the screenshots of my problems...

The above screenshot shows the problem that I am having w/ the Fulfilled. The part that I have circled in red is where it is not filling the shape correctly!

This is a close up of the same screenshot

The thing that I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND is why, when I show ONLY the path outline of the shape that it appears correctly, but yet when I go to fill it as a regualar custom shape, it fills the wrong area !!

PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT ASAP!! I HAVE A PRINT DEADLINE OF MIDNIGHT CENTRAL STANDARD TIME (GMT - 6:00)

Thanks many million times over!!

I assume you are stroking the path to recover the letters, if you open the stroke menu it offers the option of stroking the edge or center . select ceter stroke

Actually -- I had made the path into a custom shape that I could resize at will, but what your suggestion may work as well. Except that I can't find where the stroke menu is. The only stroke options I have found don't give the option of stroking the center or the edge, they just automatically stroke the edge.
